Hi all, I have a question regarding the Columbus model 15. This one was seen in the Nov 2004 Bulletin, submitted by Ian King from Invercargill, who unfortunately isn't around to ask any more.
The 15 was a late 1935 model for the 1936 season, and it was replaced in late 1936 by the model 24 and 24E (magic eye version)... so the 15 was gone and replaced in late 1936. Ian notes that this one was also modified with later component changes not seen in the original model 15 circuit as well.
The Columbus brandname wasn't introduced until 1937... so why does this set exist? And why is it in a Pacific model 15 cabinet? Was it a mockup for the new brand? Was it an actual thing or has someone cobbled a Columbus dial glass (which has Made In USA on the bottom?!) on another model 15 chassis? I'd love to find out. Does anyone have one? Has anyone seen one? So many questions...
Cheers, Steve
