I have an old amplifier that uses a 6v Vibrator to get the HT. The one installed has an open coil. It is 6 pin. Type V5124 Oak Vibrator Unit Synchronous made in Australia. I tried to add a picture but was unsuccessful. Does anyone have one that I could have or buy? An equivalent would be great. Cheers Bryan

Bryan, there are electronic replacements for vibrators now, either inserts or total replacements. Generally the quality of the contacts will be poor in a "vintage" vibrator - either thro material deterioration (eg rubber) or contact corrosion, so the newer electronic version seems a better option to me. There was even an item in the bulletin a couple of years ago, otherwise the likes of Antique Radio Supplies have "new" e-vibrator units at about US$30. Chrs, DC

There is a guy in Christchurch who is manufacturing them for ZC1's I think - I don't recall his details but I'll make some enquiries and come back to you if you'd be happy to go the fandangled silly-cone way... if you're specifically after an original Oak unit, there were some sold on Trade Me a while back although I don't recall the specs - I'll see if I can find out - they do pop up every now and then.
Cheers

For a digital version, Trade Me user kelvinpb - here is a current auction for one
I believe from memory that he can tweak them for specific uses... they are based on a PICAXE microcontroller I think.
Cheers
