I was just wondering how many forum moderators / admins do we have?
And it feels (to me, and at least one other person who mentioned it to me) like there are too many sections in this forum, and it's a bit confusing to find the right place at times. Do we need all the forum sections we have? And / or could we maybe bubble the more used ones to the top so they're more obvious to people looking for them?
I love having the forum and really appreciate the effort that has gone into setting it up, and I hope it becomes a fantastic resource for members and people just browsing for information alike...
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve
One Admin, one global moderator and several moderators. Yes it's a hard one getting the balance right with pro's and cons for both. At present it looks like there are too many sections, however as more content populates the site it becomes important that there are enough sections available. That said, I'm always considering suggestions, what suggestions have you got?

Me - I'd take to it with a chainsaw NZVRS Services - I'd remove this entirely - its a duplication of effort from the society website. Financial, life etc... - I'd remove this too - merge the radio story one with new member intros and ditch the rest - again, its a duplication of effort. General - I'd remove NZVRS items of interest but thats because I don't see what its for. Again, duplication from the site. I'd then move projects / restorations to the resource room and clarify what each one is for - because I'm still not sure if I should post valve radio stuff in member projects / restorations or valve radios / radiograms - everything I touch is getting repaired, rejuvenated or restored to some degree... I think most vintage radio forums I am on have too many sections, and I tend to live in one or two... generally electrical restoration and sometimes cabinet restoration... occasionally buy/sell. But thats just me. Simpler is betterer I think, but again, this is just my thoughts on it. Cheers Steve

I do agree that there is some duplication especially with the content that was on the original nzvrs.pl.net site. The idea behind duplicating it here was to draw people here as a resource and hopefully participate in the forums. However there is a new nzvrs.com site which has that content again, however I had no idea was even being created until it appeared.
I'll take the suggestions aboard Steve and see how it can be rationalised, I has been a few months and several sub-boards haven't been used at all so they are due for some pruning At this stage I wont be removing the financial members area, however some re-shuffling will be done.
Cheers Dave

I’d be in favour of a simpler structure, maybe even a single channel, with a search facility. Thanks.
