Picked this up quite a few years back along with another identical one and a number of as new parts no doubt intended to make up more of these sets. It is a Moderne TRF that appears to be in "as new" condition apart from the damage from poor storage. It actually looks as if it has never been powered up! As far as I can tell everything is original. I expect the chassis is a leftover from a production run from towards the end of the Electrical Service Co's manufacturing of radios. A photo of one of these sets in it's cabinet can be found on page 140 of More Golden Age. Cheers Daniel

Very cool. And wow! I wish my service bench was that clean "It's never been powered up" sounds like a challenge... Mind if I add the photos to vintageradio.co.nz? Cheers, Steve

Hi Steve
Yes, feel free to use the photos. Its not often one sees a chassis in such un-messed with condition. Maybe I’ll try testing the caps, see if they are any good! Could be a good candidate for powering up gently on the variac. I’ve no plans to do anything else with it aside from preserve it as-is in the collection.
Bench is pictured after a post restoration tidy up!

Daniel it would be nice to get the circuit drawn up for the NZVRS library, if you have the time. James
