This Mullard from about 1938 wasn’t working when I got it recently, but is now going pretty well. I need to tidy up the loudspeaker cloth, and the EM1 magic eye isn’t working, even though the voltages seem right. I tried a couple of valves here. Any thoughts as to how I can get the eye working again? Thanks! Attachments:

Magic eyes eventually fail due to the phosphor getting weaker and weaker, till they stop glowing.

Thanks, Richard. The original EM1 did glow quite brightly for a short while, but is now dark. Heaters still work. So I'm thinking it may be a circuit failure somewhere?

You wouldn’t have a copy of the circuit diagram for that radio would you, there’s a bloke here in Australia looking for a circuit? Regards Ian Martin.

I think I have one but being in lockdown I can't get to my workshop easily to check, I get back to you..
With regard to the EM 1, could be an internal problem with the tube, also the side contact socket does give problems (tarnished/ loose connections inside the socket)

Do you still want a circuit diagram for the radio. I have found my copy. Not the best but full service manual. If you do sent me your email and I'll get it to you PH: 0275 167 507
