The Radio Attic site has images of vintage radios for sale, and sold, mainly in the US. It's of interest because prices are given, although these are asking prices only. My impression is that by NZ standards the prices seem very high. Can anyone comment on this site, please?

Its been around for quite a long time (1996 I think it started). It’s a good reference for photos of American radios. Most of the radios look to be restored and most are advertised as working. The prices are on the high side and what a radio actually sold for appears to be a secret between the buyer and seller. I get the impression that the sellers are mostly people who restore radios to sell them and are trying to recoup their costs and make some profit. The SOLD archive is extensive, so it does appear to work!
Also, with the US being a much larger market, there are more people who are just collectors as opposed to restorers and collectors who are prepared to pay a premium for radios in excellent cosmetic and working order.

Thanks for the comments, Daniel. I agree with your assessment. This site is certainly of interest, but the nice thing about TradeMe, for example, is that everyone gets to see the final price.
