hello all , I am new here. proud owner of two Akrad Clipper's
no Am signal to speak of here and what there is is largely swamped by the howl of impulse radiation from my array of mppt converters and sine(sort of) wave inverters I do get snatches of bollywood and religious fervor
anyone have experience of building a micro AM transmitter that i could use to serve content on these ?
failing that i guess a long antenna away from the house and good earth would help.

In flash of inspiration i remembered my generator feed around 350 meter of overhead lines between house and shed and a good ground peg . signal booming in, interference largely swamped by signal and considerably more choice of content. ummm hmmmm must remember to disconnect before i start the generator again (seldom used)
just perusing NZVRS BULLETIN now

I built the "Silicon Chip" magazine AM transmitter from a couple of years back, it works very well and uses a cheap modulator chip.

Hi Richard Built the same Silicon Chip AM Transmitter, can't for the life of me to get it going properly. Did you use parts from Jaycar ? I've checked all the parts a number of times, all appear correct. If you have some tips I would appreciate a few pointers !! Cheers

Hey Roy Mine had an etching problem in the PCB. I cant find the email pin pointing where it was, but Im sure it was a track not joined in one corner.
Might pay to compare to the circuit etc

If you have an AM signal generator with facility for external modulation, that can do the job, too.

Hi Roy, I purchased the PCB direct from "Silicon Chip", had it mailed to a relative in Melbourne, then he posted it to me in NZ, cheaper than "Silicon Chip" mailing it direct. I already had a few MC1496 Chip's as that was used in the Theremin and purchased what I didn't have from Jaycar. I don't recall any problems, I'm just looking at my notes, I did change the series resistor values on the input voltage divider from 10K to 1K5 and 10K to 1K and built my own inboard power supply. It does perform very well, so I hope you can work out what is wrong with yours.
