Hi Wayne, generally speaking the answer is no, but really it depends on what its job is as there are situations where the difference in effect might be either negligible or completely un-noticable.
So, while you could - as it has 10 times the value the effect it has will be different.
Where in the circuit is it? It sounds like something you might find around the output in tone control circuitry.

Hi Steve new to this and havent got a circuit diagram for it but looking at it it appears to be coming off the back of the volume control. Was asking as didnt have the correct one with me so will order some Cheers Wayne

Hi Wayne, I suspect it's on the tone control not the volume control, I'm pretty sure both controls are concentric on those sets so will be ganged together - I assume you are talking about the Pye (PZ)230? I understand the 230 is electrically similar / the same as the PZ222 - and there is a 0.002uF cap (2nf) on the tone control in the 222 schematic - there is a cap on the volume control as well but that is a 0.04uF. I'd stick to a 0.002 or 0.0022 for a replacement. Also, check the PZ230 here for service info in case you haven't already: www.vintageradio.co.nz/model/pye/pz230Cheers, Steve
