Found some 10uf 400vw ones on trade me - just the 0.1uf 1600vw that's a bit of a problem so far. Of course my really bad luck is probably needing an 12AU7/ECC82 - the music wallies are all over them so the price is sky high - even the chinese ali baba lot have ramped up their prices to idiotic levels.

Hi Peter
Jaycar stock 10uF, 450 Volt capacitors (Cat. No: RE6078), but I have no idea where to suggest you try for the 1600 Volt cap. What is the model no. of the Master VTVM?

Have you tried RS Components? I know they're not the cheapest, but they usually have the hard to get stuff. Otherwise, buying in from overseas is really the only option I know of. It seems no one wants to service NZ with a decent range of quality components any more.
BRING BACK DAVID REID ELECTRONICS!

Hi Peter Still after 12AU7/ ECC82 ? No but thanks for asking - I suddenly realised as a guitarist with 6 valve amps I've got some spares somewhere - somewhere. Shows how often I change valves eh?

I tried jaycar and others.

RCA WV 87B is the model number but mine is slightly different - instead of the frame and all the bolts it has just four bolts holding the front panel on but is otherwise identical to this one www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH16dGNtOI8&list=PLOPkH_Y-_ORXDwzs8GMnhr2p0gZ4Ab302&index=1&ab_channel=AllAmericanFiveRadio Much to my shock and horror it actually works, the meter balances etc. of course the DC voltages it shows are way off (about a third on all DC ranges and the ohms are up the wop) - I suspect a high resistor somewhere (swapped out the rectifier tubes so I know they are good). But for the usual test item in 'excellent condition' from trade me it's remarkable in actually working.

Of course they do not tell you this until you actually go to buy something which also makes them suspect in my eyes.

just noticed this request. Need has probably been resolved but if not I have a couple of 0.22mfd 1600DCVW caps surplus. They are PCB mount rectangular, 40mm x 17 x 31 high. I've used them in series parallel to replace the EHT filter caps in two Telequipment D43 oscilloscopes regards

Since the cap is only used on the 1500v setting it may now not even get replaced as there is no way I'd be knowingly using it to measure that level of voltage.
