I visited the Taieri Historical Museum near Mosgiel on Sunday. They have a small collection of vintage radios in an old school building they have on site. Amongst them is this Courier ES made by Wiseman and Sons Ltd in Albert Street Auckland. Quite a rare radio, I have not seen one "in the flesh" before. The set appears to have been repainted at some point.

Wow, nice find! Were you tempted to lift the lid for a look-see? I might have to go visit...
It looks like a fresh coat of Supercheap's 'New Copper' - I use it on Rolls chassis' from the 30's because it matches that old copper colour really well.
Its nice to see one survived - although I wonder if there is anything inside or if its just the case?

I was tempted to get a closer look! I will ask them next time I'm there if the top can be removed so I can get a photo of the inside. It looks like it is hinged.
Thanks for the paint tip, I'll keep that in mind for the next Rolls set I do.
The other radios were nothing special, a couple of 50's Columbus sets and others from the same era. But it was nice to see that they were preserved in original unrestored condition.
