I just (re) read the ARTS&P designation and I saw the charge basis “three shillings and sixpence per cathode electron stream in the set (not the number of valves)”. Would the 5Y3/80 be counted as one or two? Two separate cathodes- two separate streams albeit tied together.

Would it be a smarty pants answer to say that, in the case of the 80 /5Y3 there were two electron streams but only one at any given 50th (or 100th ?) of a second?

Thank you for the info Steve.
Now I think back, when I worked for Wiseman Electric in 1979 I seem to remember that chips were subject to 20% sales tax but voltage regulators were exempt.
Trombone, I like your thinking:)
