The first few letters are definitely MED. Can't work out what comes after. The horizontally mounted coil appears to be of the trembler type, effectively switching the large round coil on and off at some indeterminate frequency. The centre terminal of the coil would arc to the spike to produce ozone. It was one of the 'quack' cures of the 19th century and Nikola Tesla produced the first commercial ozone generators. That's my theory on what it is anyway.

I agree. The input will definitely NOT be 230V AC though. More like 12V DC.
