Does anyone know the whereabouts of any Acme sets? I have two pictured models
The first one is, I believe, a smaller cabinet than the second.
The second (colour) one is probably the same size as the Courtenay model 140. The pics were saved from Trade Me years ago. They have different escutcheons—the first one has the same style as Courtenay of the time, but they both look like Crowe (Chicago, US) products. For the first one, this is the only photo I have… the second I have rear pics but the chassis, while Radio Corp, is butchered (later Rola speaker, square IFs, octal valves, no badge etc) and so little can be inferred from it based on the photos. I also don't immediately recognise the chassis layout but the staggered holes was something the 5B and 5C superhet chassis had under its tuning gang (1933).
As best I can tell, Acme was built to sell in auction houses—beyond that, I don't know much. I'd love to learn more. There were 4, 5 (table and console), and 7-valve models built apparently - although one source suggests 6 and 9 valve models might have existed also.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of any of them? Acme was a big name back in the day, and there were many companies using it—I really only want to know about the Radio Corp uses
