The Cadet is now running again. I substituted an EBF32 for the 6AR7GT, and this did the trick. There are a couple of other little things needing attention, but it’s about time to turn to the cabinet. The loudspeaker cloth has come off, but can be reused. In this model the cloth appears on the front and the left side, ie it turns through 90 degrees inside. There is no obvious way to fasten it, nor to tighten it. Someone in the past has tried to do this with sellotape, and it clearly wasn’t a success. Any experience I can call on, or any tips, please? At this stage I am thinking hot glue gun to fasten one end, then tension against this when set as far as the corner, then repeat to the end. But there may be a better way. Thanks! Lawrence

I haven't done one before - but should it have a stiff card baffle perhaps? With the cloth glued to it, then all glued inside the cabinet? I would think they must have had something to hold the cloth in place properly...
Maybe it was just glued to the inside of the cabinet? Although if its not heavy cloth I would think it would pull away from the inside of the cabinet at the corner if that was the case.
I checked my photo archive - nothing definitive sorry.
Cheers, Steve

Thanks, Steve. The cloth that came with it (not necessarily original) is quite thick and stiff so capable of standing up. There is evidence of earlier glueing on the inside of the cabinet, and the Bakelite surface is roughened. I did wonder if I should reinforce the side piece with cardboard, and will see how it goes over time.
