Hi all Merry Christmas to all I've been given what I believe is a Courtnay Model 5M Talisman radio and I need a replacement plastic dial indicator. I'm guessing that's what it's called. Any help with this much appreciated Thanks Wayne

Hi Wayne, they go cloudly, then crack - its very common on these sets. Finding a good replacement is likely going to be difficult. I looked at getting some replacements screen-printed a few years back but the best quote I got was $350 for 5 - mainly as there are several colours which need to be applied in layers and the setup costs were therefor prohibitive.
Cheers, Steve

Thanks Steve, the screen is missing all together so all I've got to go on is a picture off the radio. Cheers Wayne

thin clear plastic. Maybe 1mm thick I'll email you a higher res copy of this artwork, that might help - I've put this together based on one I did for my Columbus a few years back, and a photo of a Courtenay dial I have. The calibration will almost certainly be completely off the mark but it should be close enough. The colours are probably also not quite right. But it should give you a starting point.

Instead of trying to print onto 1 mm thick sheet, another possibility might be to make a colour transparency on a colour photocopier, and then laminate this. I have used this technique to make a realistic looking replacement for an Ultimate Cygnet, which has a trickily curved glass. In your case, if the laminate were too floppy you might be able to support it with the thicker plastic sheet.
