Here is a small project that will make life a bit simpler at the bench. There is always the difficulty of matching a speaker to a restoration project. Usually the cable is too short. So I have put this switching unit together to provide a multi-match unit which connects to an 8 ohm speaker. It uses a 2 pole, 6 position switch and a universal output transformer. It fits neatly into a small box I had in the junk collection. Already it has proved its worth. Attachments:Speaker Unit.pdf (257.69 KB)

Good one John, I use a plastic box with banana plug connectors for the various tappings but yours allows rapid change of impedance matching - nice! Chrs, DC

Of course it is easy to change the impedance of the workshop speaker by changing the taping to which the output is connected. I just happened to have an 8 ohm one.

Well, I made a mistake with the circuit by swapping the input & output terminals. The correct circuit is here. Speaker Matching switch.pdf (178.08 KB) Thanks to James for picking the mistake.
