Anyone have a suggestion for how to repair a slipping tuning drive on a Radio Ltd BCU? The steel drive wheel is slipping in the groove of the rubber wheel which is worn and cracked. Anyone have a spare rubber wheel or know how to make one?

Electrical through chassis rubber grommets of a suitable size might fudge it - you might have the clean up the driven disc though - looks a bit rough! See Jaycar HP0702 series. Cheers, DC

That Rubber wheel grommet in your photo isnt original James, you can buy a grommet set from Mitre10 for about $10? the others handy for chassis, you have to stretch it over the metal bearing. Ive filled the groove with a small rubber tubing and rubber cement glue, it works ok, i havent had any slipping so far...

James, I remembered how I fixed this in the past, I used a grommet like the one in your photo, though I doubled the thickness of the drive disk by adding another of the same diameter, the thicker disk then gripped the inner side walls of the grommet so didnt slip

OK, that's another thing to try. Thanks.

You could try 'o' rings. Adjust on, shaft? to get a groove suitable for the driver. Then fix/glue.

Its called ' self amalgamating tape' - My father used to have heaps of it around - he used it around swaged steel fittings on cables on his trawl nets on the boat, and all kinds of other places - enough wraps of it will eventually mold itself to a kind of solid rubber overboot. I still have a couple of rolls he had in the shed after he died - its awesome stuff. Sticks to itself, but not much else. That Jaycar stuff looks right - also RS: nz.rs-online.com/web/c/adhesives-sealants-tapes/tapes/self-amalgamating-tapes/I would think electrical suppliers like Redpaths and Ideal would have it as well Cheers, Steve

If you go for the self amalgamating tape option, I have some on hand in the truck if you dont want to buy an entire roll James. Plenty of grommets on hand too. Dave
