Just got to the last stage of rewiring a socket and 'bing' the valve tag breaks off flush at the base. Said lots of rude words but need a replacement - B7A phenolic, whatever. cheers.

Update - I decided to try Ali express, the Chinese suppliers, for these bases thinking the $28 NZ would vanish and I'd never hear anything again. Instead in 3 weeks they turned up - not just one but10 in fact - truly impressed (taken longer for stuff to get to me within NZ) - this is the store in case any one else needs some; Their name is Jemosa. Their ad was - with postage etc it came to $28NZ 10PCS Ceramic Vacuum Tube Socket 7 pin Valve Base GZC7-1B-Y for B&W Picture Tube 6J1 6J2 6J3 6X4 6Z4 6H2 Vacuum Tube Amplifier Price: US $7.18 / lot The really neat thing has been that I was able to carefully extract one of the pin socket holders in a new base and replace the broken one in the old base. Then I rewired it all replacing high resistors, old electrolytics etc. Does it work - well no but you cannot have everything - looks good.
