This is a question for those a little older than I - what happened to them?
I know they fell into the hands of Robert Francis in about 1961, the stores pretty much remaining the same, but taking on a wider range of products- Philips, HMV, Norge, Bell etc. I understand that didn't go too well, and so I *think* Pye took them back over some time in the later 60's... running them as general appliance stores. Then later again (80's?) HMV took them over and they became HMV / EMI music stores? I remember buying records from the EMI record store in Dunedin as a kid.
I'd appreciate any recollections (I know there are a few in another thread from a while back... I'll look that one up too)
Cheers, Steve

Good morning Steve
I remember, as a very young kid, there being a 'Radio Centre' here, in Pukekohe. It was situated a few shops up the road from where I did my Radio & TV apprenticeship. Yes, you're dead right about them becoming music shops, as this one did too, as I bought my early 45's from there, up 'till about 1972, or so. I don't remember the time in between (early to late1960's) though, although a stirring in my mind seems to suggest I did see fridges & washing machines through the shop window. By the time I started my apprenticeship in 1973 the 'Radio Centre' record shop had closed down & another one (a general music shop, that sold records, sheet music, musical instruments (mainly electric guitars), guitar amps, & (mostly) high end turntables, and other related stuff) had opened two shops down the road from where I worked. As far as I know, the two businesses weren't related.
