A little light relief... After servicing and painting this set, I stood back to admire my servicing skills of this PYE PZ39, as you would, when suddenly... it named itself "Custard PYE" I don't usually 'pimp' radios but couldn't resist the temptation. A recent Trade Me auction purchase - one owner since new & was in very good nick. Cleaned, replaced electros, paper caps and dial lites then sprayed gloss lemon yellow. Shock horror! Pics show before and after.

Mmmmmmm... custard PYE, my favourite! That is what I would call a sympathetic restoration. The colour suits and the finish is excellent. It looks like it could have easily left the factory with that colour and I prefer it to the original puce.

That colour looks fantastic on that set. I did a red one once, but I really like this.
