There were three paper-back volumes of “Radio Manufacturers of the 1920s” by author Alan Douglas published in 1995. “He had a love, for not only the facts of history, but also the art. In the books the advertising art is featured as well as the artistry of the sets, the cases, the circuitry, and the design.” Of the 3 volumes Alan published, volume 1 may have info about the R&B Radio Coy, New York City, to help my restoring a1925 radio. If anyone has volume 1 and could advise me what manufacturers are listed in that volume that would help me find more information about my journey. Thanks - Ron

Sorry Ron, as far as I can see in the three indexes there is no R&B listed. Alan's books describe the manufacturers with only a small reference to their sets. Riders does not seem to help either. Any hints as what the R&B might stand for? Cheers, DC

OK, thanks for your effort. I have the original metal label attached to the inside of the cabinet lid and it is labelled as 'R&B Radio Co'. I have searched also on RadioMuseum but no luck as what R&B is - might be Rhythym & Blues!!! . It seems that in that era, there were many manufacturers in what it seems a very turbulent trading time so perhaps they have just disappeared - mind you we are looking back 95 years! The circuitry of the radio at that time was not too complicated so I will need to carefully piece together the circuit and when it is complete, switch on the power supply and wait for the 1925's music to boom out of thee large speaker!! Thanks for your help - cheers Ron

Hi Ron, have you asked on the Antique Radio Forums? There might be someone there who has heard of them...
Cheers, Steve
