Bought a nice little RBG recently, with brown Bakelite cabinet. Got it going, but there are a couple of outstanding issues. The dial which may be celluloid has warped over time, and more importantly has lost definition and transparency. See the image. I have tried cleaning the front surface with a mild abrasive but this hasn’t helped. Any suggestions as to the best way forward? The loudspeaker is also playing up. The sound sometimes cuts out, and when it does work the output is fairly distorted. The cone is very fragile, and light can shine through it in a number of places. These are not holes, just the cone material becoming very thin. If I put my fingers against the cone, the sound quality improves, so I think it’s the speaker not the electronics. I’m attempting a cone repair with some flexible glue and ladies’ tights (as you do), but I’m not holding my breath. If I need to replace it, does anyone have a five inch Rola speaker or similar they could part with? Thanks, Lawrence —

We have an Ultimate RBG dial in the NZVRS collection but not sure it's any better than what you have. Here's a pic, and yes, it too is warped concave top to bottom but could be straightened I guess. Let's know if it's of any use to you. Bob Attachments:

I’ll try to make mine work, and get back to you if it doesn’t. Cheers, Lawrence —
