I have the job of doing up this Thorn Mastiff. As you can see, there’s a lot of rust. I can restore the top and sides with say a hammer finish paint, but the problem is the front, where the rust is into the lettering. I have already sought some advice, but would like to throw the problem open to a wider audience, to see if anyone has any good suggestions for how to approach this. Thanks! Lawrence —

I would consider the 3 options: - Water slide decals and clearcoat
- Electroset / sticker and clearcoat
- Make a Sticker Stencil and then painting it
I would use a similar sticker system as the ones used by people to put writing on the back windows of cars with the stencil method if I wanted a perfect finish. The signage companies have machines to make them

Thanks, Richard. I have used Gimp before to recreate a damaged dial, where the cleaned image can be printed as a transparency, but I’m thinking it might be tricky to transfer the image in this case onto the metal front panel.
