This popped up on Trademe, a model 66R that comes with its original guarantee, "Certificate of Ownership", operating instructions, and a service job card. Sold for 35 pounds in January 1947. In 1949 it was taken to the Christchurch Radio Centre in High Street with the complaint "Smoking" The power transformer had burned out due to the rectifier valve shorting. A new T57 transformer, filter capacitors, 6X5 valve and two resistors? were fitted.
Looking at the chassis, the power transformer has been replaced again at some point in its life.

I have certainly never seen a Columbus set complete with so much original documentation. Sadly, it looks to have spent time in a damp environment judging by the rusty chassis and condition of the finish on the cabinet.
Cheers Daniel

Hi Daniel, the documentation sure seems like the most impressive part of that set - although the price is steep, it looks like a nice piece of history.

It just shows that this stuff is still out there. I wonder how many other radios are still sitting in someone's shed or attic with all the paperwork attached?
