Has anyone built their own portable magic eye tube tester?
It's a project I have been considering for a while. The idea is to be able to take it to ham junk sales and test eye tubes at the table before purchasing. There's not a lot to building one but I thought I would ask and see if anyone else has done one before I start - it's always good to see what others have made and steal their ideas!

I have the parts on the bench to build one (they've been sitting there for at least 2 years now) - I was going to use a few 18650's, an LM317 for the heater supply and a high voltage booster board from Ali Express for the HT... then just copy the mess I made for my bench eye tester.
There is a super-fancy one that does the rounds on farcebook regularly, but that one would be way too flash for me lol
